“We will start at 8 a.m. on Thursday morning and set things up through noon on Friday.” — John Lange, game day manager

On Thursdays of game week faculty, staff and students will begin to see changes on campus beginning with the tents that will become Tailgate Village going up on the LBC and Newcomb Quads on the Tulane University uptown campus. Portable bathrooms, light towers and “crowd pleasers” (trailer restrooms with air conditioning and hot water) will follow.

“We will start at 8 a.m. on Thursday morning and set things up through noon on Friday,” says John Lange, game day manager for Tulane University. “By noon on Sunday, it’s our goal to have the campus back to use for its regular activities.”

Tailgating will be allowed for the general public in designated areas on the LBC Quad, with spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning four hours prior to kickoff. The Newcomb Quad will serve as a tailgating area for eligible donors to the Tulane Athletics Fund.

“Tailgate Training,” an event especially for alumni, will take place at the Alumni House from 6 until 9 p.m. on Thursday (Aug. 28). The event will include a large-screen TV for viewing the Green Wave opening game of the 2014 season against the University of Tulsa at 7 p.m. Sodexo personnel who staff Tulane Dining Services will demonstrate how to properly cook for a tailgate party and give other tailgating tips. Tulane gear will be on sale, and there will be opportunities to purchase tickets to future football games at Yulman Stadium.

The same night at the Rat in the LBC, a “Watch the Wave!” party for students will offer free food and soft drinks.

On Thursday, Sept. 4, Tulane faculty, staff and graduate students will have an opportunity to enjoy refreshments and complimentary Yulman Stadium T-shirts at an open house in Yulman Stadium. Tickets and Tulane gear will be on sale along with complimentary wine and beer and live jazz.
