Algiers Point

Corralled on two sides by the curve of the Mississippi River, Algiers Point on the west bank of New Orleans gives the appearance of an island. The second oldest neighborhood in New Orleans, Algiers Point was initially granted to the founder of New Orleans, Jean- Baptiste Lemoyne, Sieur de Bienville, in 1719.
