Jeff Schiffman, senior associate director of admission, tweets as part of his duties with the Super Bowl Host Committee led by the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation.
New Wave: How did you become part of the committee?
Jeff: There was an application process that began early last year.
New Wave: What was your first assignment?
Schiffman: FAM (familiarization) weekend is when various organizations come in town to familiarize themselves with New Orleans, its venues and neighborhoods. It helps them generate ideas for their events during Super Bowl week.
New Wave: How long has the committee been prepping for the Super Bowl?
Schiffman: Years! The Sports Foundation and the host committee have been planning and fine-tuning every aspect of this major event since even before the big game was awarded to New Orleans a few years ago.
New Wave: What do you tweet about?
Schiffman: I got the chance to man the Twitter account on Thursday (Jan. 31). That entails replying to fan tweets, answering questions and monitoring trending topics. We have a whole team of social media staff who replied to every tweet that mentions NOLA or the Super Bowl.
New Wave: What role do you have at the pregame NFL Experience?
Schiffman: The NFL experience gives fans from all teams a chance to really get a true NFL experience even if they can’t make the big game. I will be launching footballs for catch contests, setting up tackling dummies and being as active as I can be to show these fans a great time!
New Wave: What celebrities have you seen?
Schiffman: They are everywhere! I’ve seen Sharon Osborne and Alicia Keys, as well as the now-famous girlfriend of A. J. McCarron.
