Neighborhood Relations Standards - Fraternities and Sororities
All fraternities and sororities recognized by Tulane University that operate official chapter houses are expected to maintain their properties on a daily basis throughout the academic year as well as during the summer months.
Each house manager and chapter president shall educate his/her chapter and, in particular, chapter house residents, about Neighborhood Relations Standards. The Director of Fraternity and Sorority Programs shall notify chapters in writing when a violation of the Neighborhood Relations Standards has occurred. Suggestions will be provided to assist the chapter in making the necessary improvements, and the chapter will be notified of any levied penalty and the time frame in which the violation is to be remedied. They are also encouraged to make external house improvements when necessary, and contact the Fraternity and Sorority Programs in writing prior to the commencement of work.
For the purposes of this policy, the term "house" refers to the outside of the structure; all that is normally visible to the outside; all porches and balconies; front, back, and side yards; parking lots/driveways; sidewalks and curbs bordering the house; and all other areas adjoining the structure.
