What is Healthy Mondays at Tulane?

Healthy Mondays at Tulane is a collaborative effort of the Center for Wellness & Health Promotion (theWELL), the Student Health Center, and the Reily Recreation Center. Our mission is to encourage healthy behaviors in the Tulane community. This includes all of us --- students, staff and faculty. If we commit to making small positive changes in our routine every Monday, we're more likely to maintain these habits throughout the week and thereafter. Over time, we'll improve our overall health and state of mind. Healthy Monday programs focus on nutrition, fitness, general wellness, prevention of STIs (sexually transmitted infections), and stress management.

The Healthy Monday Campaign is a national movement backed by leading public health schools that dedicates the first day of every week to health. Every Monday, individuals and organizations join together to commit to healthy behaviors that help end chronic preventable diseases. Why Monday? It's the January of the week, the perfect time for a fresh start. People are more likely to begin exercising, start a diet or quit smoking on Monday than any other day. It's a call to action built into every calendar – offering 52 chances a year to live a longer, healthier life!
