Where is BASICS located?

BASICS sessions are held in The Center for Wellness and Health Promotion (theWELL) on the ground floor of the Reily Center, suite 115. Anyone who arrives more than 7 minutes late for a session will be required to reschedule. 

Is there a cost for BASICS?

If a student decides to attend BASICS on his/her own, there is no fee. For information about costs for students required to attend see below.

Will anyone know if I've attended BASICS?

Confidentiality is an important aspect of the program and the information discussed during a session will not be shared. While BASICS sessions are confidential, information may be disclosed with a student's consent to appropriate administrators and health care professionals as needed. Furthermore, confidentiality cannot be upheld if a student indicates that s/he may harm him/herself or others.

What if I am required to complete BASICS?

If you are required to attend, a BASICS staff member will register you in the online BASICS system. You will receive an e-mail with your login information and instructions for accessing the BASICS Student Portal to schedule your sessions. If you have misplaced your login information please e-mail basics@tulane.edu. You will schedule both your first and second session at the same time. We strongly recommend that you do not reschedule your initial appointments. There are a limited number of appointments, and students who attempt to reschedule may not be able to find a new appointment that meets their administrative or conduct deadline for completion. As stated above, BASICS sessions are confidential. The only information a referrer will receive is whether or not a student completed the program. If a student is required to attend BASICS s/he will be assessed a $200 fee. This fee will be charged to accounts receivable and reflected as "Office of Wellness Services".
