Mellon Foundation gives Tulane University more than $1 million for humanities research

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has pledged another $1.05 million to Tulane University to continue the Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship program it established at the university's School of Liberal Arts in 2008

The latest grant will fund nine postdoctoral fellowships in the humanities for up to six years. The funding is in addition to a $1.05 million grant the Mellon Foundation made to Tulane in 2008 to establish an initial nine postdoctoral humanities fellowships.

"The Mellon Foundation supports institutions that are either leaders or promising newcomers. With the post-Katrina reorganization of Tulane that created the School of Liberal Arts, we like to feel Tulane fits both of these categories.
