Tulane Summer Lyric Theatre

"Cabaret"

Date: Thursday, July 31, 2014
Time: 8:00 PM - 10:30 PM
Building: Dixon Hall
Location: uptown campus

Kander and Ebb’s timeless musical, Cabaret, is set in 1930s Berlin in the infamous Kit Kat Klub. The Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience to the show and assures them that, whatever their troubles, they will forget them at the Cabaret. His songs provide wry commentary throughout the show while cabaret performer Sally Bowles falls in love with a young American writer and sings against the voice of the Nazi rise to power. Based on John Van Druten’s 1951 play I Am a Camera, Cabaret has won an astounding number of awards since its debut in 1966, including thirteen Tony Awards. This stylish, socially conscious smash features show-stopping choreography, stunning costumes, and classic songs, including “Two Ladies,” “Wilkommen” and, of course, “Cabaret.”
